Once again St. Stephens parishioners have the opportunity to provide Blizzard Bag for Meals on Wheels clients in the town of Warwick.

What is a Blizzard Bag ?

A Blizzard Bag is an assortment of donated non-perishable food items packed into paper bags with handles. The bags will be delivered to the recipients of the local Meals on Wheels Program in case normal food deliveries are halted due to weather related or other emergencies.

How to Get Involved

*** Blizzard Bags should be delivered to the St. Stephen Parish Community Center (former school) by Friday, January 14 at 4pm. For more information contact Mary at mjuliano@ststephenchurchwarwick.org or call the parish office at 986-4028.

What to Include in Your Blizzard Bag

Please purchase the following items – please do not stray from the list!

1 of any canned low sodium vegetable
1 of a low sodium chunky soups or
low sodium vegetable soup
(tomato, minestrone)
Fruit
1 of any canned fruit (packed in its
own juice or water or
raisins or other dried fruit
Starch
1 pasta (individual mac and cheese), oatmeal or rice packet
Protein
1 canned chicken, canned tuna or canned salmon
Dessert– optional
1 prepacked low sugar, low fat
pudding snacks or granola bar
Condiment-optional
Jam/jelly (no sugar added)
Small containers of mustard,
ketchup, or mayonnaise
Honey or lite salad dressing
Beverage
1 Shelf stable boxed milk (please check the date on the milk)
Include a note to the homebound. Handwritten notes are always appreciated! If you have young children, include them by drawing a picture.
Place each Blizzard Bag donation in a handled gift bag. Due to Covid restrictions, the bags will be put on the door knobs of the Meals on Wheels recipients.
