Welcome to  our 13th Season

WHAT IS THIS FESTIVAL ABOUT?

The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival operates a little different.  We’re not  just a single stage event.  The festival is  held in multiple locations, clubs, cafes, restaurants, performing arts centers and parks.

While we’ve hosted Wallace Roney, Arturo O’Farrill, Buster Williams, John Abercrombie, Dave Liebman, Lenny White, and The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, it is not our goal to just present “the big names”.

This series is a celebration of jazz primarily featuring groups led by Hudson Valley NY resident jazz artists.  Musicians deserving of wider recognition and who folks have expressed interest in hearing.

The participating venues are often producers of the individual shows.  In that regard, they hire who they’d prefer with guidance from the festival.  Musicians also create a concert by taking on the role of producer and performer in one.  It’s a collaborative.
We create oversight to see that there aren’t multiple bookings for the same show and establish a schedule that will maximize turnout.
Ideally each season would have varied and new programming and we’d include everyone.  No doubt there are terrific Hudson Valley Jazz artists who may not be listed.   We hope to change that and have the biggest umbrella possible. Thanks for coming.

The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival offers a variety of sponsorship opportunities. While we outline several, we’re open to discussion on them, with respect to amount of investment and associated credit, profit share and exposure. We encourage potential investors to “Google” our growing presence . We’re listed in the“Festival Guide” in Downbeat Magazine, the world’s premier jazz publication, and havereceived coverage on WBGO, the leading jazz radio station in the tri-state area. The NYTimes, JazzTimes, IloveNY and local media have covered the series. See “Press” at jazz festival site; hudsonvalleyjazzfest.org.

Thank you for your consideration.

The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival continues to celebrate the American musical art form of jazz featuring local artists.  While we’ve presented  some of the more nationally recognized names, the purpose of our series is to highlight local jazz musicians deserving wider recognition. There are excellent jazz musicians working each week throughout the valley and beyond.

We rely on the presenting venues and donations to pay the musicians.  So in that regard those venues have a say in who performs with the festival making suggestions.   Each August we coordinate a schedule and try to bring a variety of performances folks will enjoy.  We do our best to include as many musicians as funding allows.  Obviously , there are many who may not appear  and are great artists as well.  We welcome your support to help us create additional shows featuring the artists you’d like to hear.

Schedule to date: Working to bring additional concerts
