Join the WHS’s Cemetery Preservation Crew and help clear debris and restore order to the many private cemeteries located throughout the Town of Warwick. Oftentimes, these smaller cemeteries are lost to overgrowth and forgotten. In just a few hours, this volunteer crew helps salvage the graves of some of Warwick’s past residents. Please call 845-986-3236 to register and for this month’s cemetery location.

More on the “Beyond Jazz” project, with concert, this Sunday. Albert Buckbee Center, 2 Colonial Ave, Warwick NY. ( former library building, same road as 94 and Main Street, now The Warwick Historical Society).

Beyond. Jazz is a 6 to 7 pc ensemble performing live on the spot improvised music.  Influences range from jazz rock, R&B, reggae, electronica and others.
The ensemble works as a collective unit, listening, supporting one another’s ideas creating a soundscape or audio track.  Each performance is unique and never intentionally duplicated.  We do however record many of our shows.  Below is our current digital release, a combination of concerts from the past year:

An Immersive Theater Experience

Detestable Arts - Black Logo.jpg
Greenwood Lake Theater, in partnership with Warwick Historical Society, presents “Detestable Arts”,

on October 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30

with three start times at 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00pm. The performance will begin at Lewis Park, 80-92 Main Street, Warwick, NY, and will continue through several locations within the park. Advance tickets are $30 per person/$25 ages 12-18; at the door $30 for all.

Advance purchase is recommended. Limited tickets per time. Box office contact is 845-986-3236, ext. 101.

“Detestable Arts” is an original retelling of the Salem Witch Trials done in an immersive setting. The story takes place over an acre of space in beautiful Lewis Park, as well as inside the historic Old School Baptist Meeting House. The audience can get right in the middle of the accusations and trials that became one of Colonial America’s most notorious cases of mass hysteria. Everyone who attends will move freely throughout the space to experience the story in whatever order they choose. It’s a chance to be a part of the story, rather than just watching from a distance. Take a break from the performance and drink in the colonial-era tavern alongside the residents of Salem Village (drink tickets available at the door). For more information on the style of the show and what to expect, visit https://www.greenwoodlaketheater.org/detestablearts.html.

Quiltfolk Textile Talk @ Virtual
Feb 16 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Quiltfolk Textile Talk @ Virtual | Fort Worth | Texas | United States
Baltimore Album Quilts have fascinated both makers and historians for well over a century. In the recently released Issue 21 of Quiltfolk, magazine staff writer Meg Cox (@meg4quilts) gave readers a look at what makes these quilts so special, and why the revival movement of Baltimore Album Quilts has outlasted the original craze in the mid-19th century.
Now, Quiltfolk is collaborating with Quilt Alliance (@quiltalliance) to dive a little deeper. Meg has invited two of the makers she profiled for the Maryland issue and two historians she consulted to come together for a panel discussion. Quiltmakers Mimi Dietrich (mimi.dietrich.1) and Nancy Kerns will join historians Ronda Harrell McAllen and Deborah Cooney, to each share a short video about a particular Baltimore Album quilt that feeds their obsession. Meg will then lead a conversation with the group, touching on some BAQ mysteries that were recently solved.
This one-of-a-kind Textile Talk will take place Wednesday, February 16 at 2 pm EST, and it’s completely *free* to attend! The panel and short videos will be pre-recorded to ensure time for a live Q&A session with the audience. Don’t miss out on this exciting discussion about these uniquely historic quilts.
