What’s the buzz about beekeeping? Find out at the last Hands-on-History workshop of the season, the Buzz on Beekeeping on Wed., June 7 at 7 p.m. at the A.W. Buckbee Center, 2 Colonial Ave. Featuring Ryan Muehlbauer of Little York Apiary, everyone is invited to attend an educational presentation on the care and management of colonies of honeybees, nature’s often misunderstood pollinators. Ryan will discuss how to begin your journey into beekeeping, and talk about the life and times of a honeybee living in Warwick, NY. Hands-on-History is a Free adult and family-friendly workshop series. Presented in partnership with the Village of Warwick, The Buzz on Beekeeping will be an interesting evening, taking a look at the centuries old practice. Reservations are recommended, walk-ins permitted as space allows.
The event will be held on Saturday June 10 at 5 p.m., giving a few lucky contestants and supporters of the upcoming Greenwood Lake Centennial a chance to win prize money.
There are three winner levels: First prize takes home $1,500; second prize, $500; and third prize, $250.
The “drop zone” will be located in Winstanley Park, the field adjacent on CVS on Windermere Avenue, across from the Chase Bank. While the winner need not be present, a large audience is expected to attend as it’s the day of the Annual Village Street Fair and the beginning the Lakeside Farmers Market season.

National Night Out scheduled for Aug. 1
Warwick residents are invited to join thousands of communities nationwide for the 40th Annual “National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event on Tuesday, Aug. 1.
The Warwick Valley Prevention Coalition and the Town of Warwick Police Department are collaborating to bring this free, family-friendly event to the community from 5: to 8 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, Forester Avenue in Warwick.
Mingle with friends and neighbors. Enjoy hot dogs cooked-up and served by the Warwick Police Department.
Adults will have the opportunity to make ID cards for children while the kids will have fun making crafts, participating in activities and climbing onto one of the many vehicles in the Touch-A-Truck area.
A special treat this year will be a performance by the Black Dirt Bandits, one of the hottest bands in the Hudson Valley’s music scene. This dynamic musically talented group perform the best new country covers and have an array of original tunes.
Many non-profits will also be participating in National Night Out, offering everyone the opportunity to learn more about their organization. The event provides an opportunity to bring local resources and residents together under positive circumstances.

The Warwick Children’s Book Festival was first held in September 2005 at Stanley-Deming Park in Warwick, NY. So well-received, it was clear the Festival would have to become a Warwick tradition. After a six-year hiatus during which Albert Wisner Public Library designed, built and relocated to a beautiful new building, the Festival resumed in 2011. Planned and organized by the Library, the Festival is sponsored by Library 
benefactors Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes, the Village of Warwick and others. Best Book Fairs, LLC is the bookseller. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation, which funds enhancements to the programs and services of the Library.
The 2022 Warwick Children’s Book Festival will be held on Saturday, October 8 from 11am-4pm at Stanley-Deming Park at the intersection of South Street and Parkway. Admission is free and the Festival is open to all the young at heart. Join fellow readers to celebrate children’s literacy, share a love of the written word, discover new books, talk with those who create them, and have your book purchases autographed. Nearly 2,000 visitors attended the Festival in 2021. The Festival will again bring the community and visitors together in the 
heart of the Village of Warwick, near charming shops, galleries, and family-friendly cafes, and close to apple orchards and family farms.
We are delighted to welcome back the beloved Uncle Brothers Band. Singer-songwriter Tom Gardner and colleagues will perform a lively, interactive concert for children in the bandstand at 12:00pm. Preview the Uncle Brothers here and invite a friend to the concert! Feel free to bring a blanket, towel or lawn chair.
The Festival, its participants and guests will comply with any State and local public health safety requirements then in effect.
By bus from Port Authority: consult New Jersey Transit bus schedules. The last stop of the bus route into Warwick is 1 block from Railroad Avenue. (The bus departs back to Port Authority from this same stop.)
Driving from Manhattan, Brooklyn or Long Island:
- George Washington Bridge (I-95 South) to Palisades Interstate Parkway (PIP) North. Take the upper level of the bridge and stay in the far right-hand lane for easy access to the PIP. The entrance ramp is on the far right exiting the bridge.
- Exit 18 off PIP onto Long Mountain Parkway / Route 6. This is a left exit.
- Follow signs for Route 17 West and proceed on 17W for almost 10 miles.
- Exit 126 (Chester) off 17W. Take a left at end of exit ramp onto Route 94 West.
- Continue on 94W 4 miles toward the village of Florida, taking a left at the 4-way intersection in Florida (landmark: Dunkin Donuts) and proceeding on 94W into Warwick, another 7 miles.
- About 1/10 mile after first set of traffic lights in Warwick (by Key Bank) take a slight (diagonal) left onto South Street (landmark: Queen Village Cleaners). Proceed down South St. to 3rd St. and you will see Stanley-Deming Park.
- Parking: We recommend the Chase Bank parking lot on South Street (4-hr limit) or the parking lot directly across the street from the Chase Bank lot (3-hr limit.) Street parking is also available in the surrounding neighborhood.
Driving From Passaic County, NJ:
Follow route 94 North into Warwick, past the intersection with route 17A (landmark: Warwick Valley Country Club on your left) and then look for Third Street on your right.
- Take a right onto Third Street, proceed 1 block and you will see the park directly ahead to your right.
- Parking: We recommend the Chase Bank parking lot on South Street (4-hr limit) or the parking lot directly across the street from the Chase Bank lot (3-hr limit.) Then walk up South Street 3 blocks to Stanley-Deming Park. Street parking is also available in the surrounding neighborhood.
Driving from Bergen County, NJ: 2 options:
- Either take Route 17 North -> NYS Thruway (87 North) to exit 16 (Harriman tolls/17 West) and follow instructions from Manhattan (above), OR:
- Route 17 North -> NY 87 North to exit 15A. Take a left off the exit ramp and follow Route 17 North through Sloatsburg and Tuxedo. About 1.5 miles past the Tuxedo train station, bear left onto 17A, proceeding through Sterling Forest and Greenwood Lake and following signs into Warwick. Take a right onto South Street and proceed 3 blocks. You will see the park on your right.
- Parking: We recommend the Chase Bank parking lot on South Street (4-hr limit) or the parking lot directly across the street from the Chase Bank lot (3-hr limit.) Then walk up South Street 3 blocks to Stanley-Deming Park. Street parking is also available in the surrounding neighborhood.
Driving from Westchester County, NY: 2 options:

“Beyond Jazz”, a flexible member musical improv group will give a concert on Sunday Dec 17 at The Buckbe Center, 2 Colonial Ave in Warwick at 4 PM.

Join local historian Alan Held for a ride through Warwick’s railroading history and discover the 28 miles of railroads that once served the town of Warwick, its villages, and hamlets. The presentation will take place on Friday, March 8, at 7 p.m. in the A.W. Buckbee Center, located on 2 Colonial Ave. in Warwick.
Featured in the presentation will be then-and-now comparisons, maps, and rare images of Warwick that will show the importance that railroads had to the industrial development of the region. From existing trackage to little-known branches abandoned more than a century ago, the presentation will explore the track, stations, locomotives, and the stories of the half dozen railroads that built our community.
This program is free to the public courtesy of the Warwick Historical Society (WHS). Anyone with an affinity in history is welcome to attend. Saturday, April 20
Treecycle 2024: Earth to Warwick! A free, one-day event celebrating art, community, and environmental action.
Just in time for Earth Day, this year’s festival is centered around the theme of climate-smart living, and aims to inspire visitors to make a positive impact on the planet. From striking installations crafted from upcycled materials by local eco-artists to interactive workshops, Treecycle 2024 offers something for everyone. Participants can dance alongside larger-than-life puppets and explore information booths to discover practical ways to adopt greener lifestyles. There will be food, music, and craft vendors for visitors to enjoy.
At 1.30pm award-winning author K.L. Going will enchant audiences with a special story-hour featuring her latest book, “This is the Planet Where I Live.” Attendees will have the opportunity to take home signed copies, courtesy of the Albert Wisner Public Library.
Set to captivate attendees with a dynamic fusion of creativity and sustainability, this free, one-day event celebrates art, community, and environmental action centered around the theme of climate-smart living, including installations crafted from upcycled materials by local eco-artists, interactive workshops, puppets, hands-on sustainable crafts, and informational booths hosted by Sustainable Warwick highlighting ways to adopt greener lifestyles. Learn more about Climate Smart programs initiated by the Village of Warwick, including the Community Choice Aggregation project and the Earth to Warwick! Green Calendar initiative. Transformation Trails will share insights into Warwick’s latest eco-friendly park, while volunteers can sign up for “Too Good To Toss,” Warwick’s community swap. The Albert Wisner Public Library will feature signed copies of K.L. Going’s latest book, “This is the Planet Where I Live,” following a story from the author herself. There will also be live music and entertainment, vendors to shop from, and food to eat from 1 to 6 p.m. at Stanley Deming Park in Warwick. Rain date is April 21.
Highlands Earth Day Celebration: Celebrate Earth Day with the Hudson Highlands Nature Center. Beginning at 9 a.m., join “Hike the Highlands” where participants will be able to choose from three different hikes. The “Hike & Play,” led by a nature educator, is a family friendly hike perfect for little ones. The “Field & Forest Ramble,” led by a nature center naturalist, is an interpretive hike that focuses on what you’ll see on the trail that day. Get better acquainted with the world around you and learn what plants and animals are active during April in the Hudson Valley. The “Hearty Hike,” is a moderately strenuous 2.2-mile guided hike on the McKeon Loop Trail which connects the Outdoor Discovery Campus to the Black Rock Forest, showcasing two views of the Hudson River. This hike takes around two hours to complete. Hike check-ins begin at 8:30 a.m. and pre-registration is required. Tickets cost $15/person ages 3+ and include admission to the Earth Day celebration. Proceeds support the HHNC’s educational programming and care of their animal ambassadors. Cost includes admission to the “Earth Day Celebration” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nature Center’s Outdoor Discovery Campus, 120 Muser Drive in Cornwall, filled with interactive games and activates including live animals, hayrides, candle making, food trucks, and more. Non-hiking tickets for the celebration are $20/car (max six people).

Treecycle 2024: Earth to Warwick! A free, one-day event celebrating art, community, and environmental action.
Just in time for Earth Day, this year’s festival is centered around the theme of climate-smart living, and aims to inspire visitors to make a positive impact on the planet. From striking installations crafted from upcycled materials by local eco-artists to interactive workshops, Treecycle 2024 offers something for everyone. Participants can dance alongside larger-than-life puppets and explore information booths to discover practical ways to adopt greener lifestyles. There will be food, music, and craft vendors for visitors to enjoy.
At 1.30pm award-winning author K.L. Going will enchant audiences with a special story-hour featuring her latest book, “This is the Planet Where I Live.” Attendees will have the opportunity to take home signed copies, courtesy of the Albert Wisner Public Library.
Set to captivate attendees with a dynamic fusion of creativity and sustainability, this free, one-day event celebrates art, community, and environmental action centered around the theme of climate-smart living, including installations crafted from upcycled materials by local eco-artists, interactive workshops, puppets, hands-on sustainable crafts, and informational booths hosted by Sustainable Warwick highlighting ways to adopt greener lifestyles. Highlands Earth Day Celebration: Celebrate Earth Day with the Hudson Highlands Nature Center. Beginning at 9 a.m., join “Hike the Highlands” where participants will be able to choose from three different hikes. The “Hike & Play,” led by a nature educator, is a family friendly hike perfect for little ones. The “Field & Forest Ramble,” led by a nature center naturalist, is an interpretive hike that focuses on what you’ll see on the trail that day. Get better acquainted with the world around you and learn what plants and animals are active during April in the Hudson Valley. The “Hearty Hike,” is a moderately strenuous 2.2-mile guided hike on the McKeon Loop Trail which connects the Outdoor Discovery Campus to the Black Rock Forest, showcasing two views of the Hudson River. This hike takes around two hours to complete. Hike check-ins begin at 8:30 a.m. and pre-registration is required. Tickets cost $15/person ages 3+ and include admission to the Earth Day celebration. Proceeds support the HHNC’s educational programming and care of their animal ambassadors. Cost includes admission to the “Earth Day Celebration” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nature Center’s Outdoor Discovery Campus, 120 Muser Drive in Cornwall, filled with interactive games and activates including live animals, hayrides, candle making, food trucks, and more. This hike takes around two hours to complete. Hike check-ins begin at 8:30 a.m. and pre-registration is required. Tickets cost $15/person ages 3+ and include admission to the Earth Day celebration. Proceeds support the HHNC’s educational programming and care of their animal ambassadors. Cost includes admission to the “Earth Day Celebration” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nature Center’s Outdoor Discovery Campus, 120 Muser Drive in Cornwall, filled with interactive games and activates including live animals, hayrides, candle making, food trucks, and more. Non-hiking tickets for the celebration are $20/car (max six people).

Warwick’s Operation Clean Sweep: Warwick residents are encouraged to participate in this community cleanup event. Visit the Chase parking lot in Warwick from 9 a.m. to noon for bags, gloves, and materials provided by the Chamber of Commerce. Take advantage of recycling opportunities like paper shredding at $7 per box and the collection of sneakers and rubber cleats by the Warwick Lions Club. Cell phone collection will be offered by the National Collation Against Domestic Violence. Prescription drugs drop off will also be available through the Warwick Valley Prevention Coalition and the Warwick Police Department. Refrigerant Recycling: Between April 22 and 27, Sustainable Warwick will collect and recycle refrigerant-containing appliances including items such as window air conditioners, dehumidifiers, water coolers, mini-fridges and canisters of refrigerants. Full-size refrigerators will only be accepted at the drop-off events by Warwick DPW. Warwick Valley residents and businesses may bring appliances to the following drop-off events: on Monday, April 22, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Warwick DPW, 63 Public Works Road, Warwick; Thursday, April 25, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Florida Village Barn on Maple Ave. in Florida; Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to noon at Warwick DPW, 63 Public Works Rd., Warwick; and Saturday, April 27, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Greenwood Lake Village DPW, 70 Elm St., Greenwood Lake. Throughout the rest of the year, Orange County residents can take appliances to one of the county transfer stations and pay $15/appliance for proper recycling.
