Quiltfolk Textile Talk @ Virtual
Feb 16 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Quiltfolk Textile Talk @ Virtual | Fort Worth | Texas | United States
Baltimore Album Quilts have fascinated both makers and historians for well over a century. In the recently released Issue 21 of Quiltfolk, magazine staff writer Meg Cox (@meg4quilts) gave readers a look at what makes these quilts so special, and why the revival movement of Baltimore Album Quilts has outlasted the original craze in the mid-19th century.
Now, Quiltfolk is collaborating with Quilt Alliance (@quiltalliance) to dive a little deeper. Meg has invited two of the makers she profiled for the Maryland issue and two historians she consulted to come together for a panel discussion. Quiltmakers Mimi Dietrich (mimi.dietrich.1) and Nancy Kerns will join historians Ronda Harrell McAllen and Deborah Cooney, to each share a short video about a particular Baltimore Album quilt that feeds their obsession. Meg will then lead a conversation with the group, touching on some BAQ mysteries that were recently solved.
This one-of-a-kind Textile Talk will take place Wednesday, February 16 at 2 pm EST, and it’s completely *free* to attend! The panel and short videos will be pre-recorded to ensure time for a live Q&A session with the audience. Don’t miss out on this exciting discussion about these uniquely historic quilts. Ghost Investigation

with the Ghost Grannies

Ghost Investigation this Saturday, September 10 at 6:30 pm.

Join the WHS and Whendy and Amy, also known as the Ghost Grannies at an evening of paranormal investigation as we walk through some of the oldest and most historic buildings in Warwick. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own electromagnetic field (EMF) readers, dowsing rods, pendulums, and other ghost hunting equipment, and there will be some equipment available to try as well.

The walk will begin at the WHS headquarters, the A.W. Buckbee Center, 2 Colonial Avenue, and continue to the Shingle House, the oldest house in the Village of Warwick built in 1764. The tour then continues to the Old School Baptist Meeting House, and finishes at Baird’s Tavern for a glass of wine or beer or soft beverage, and culminating in more investigation in the upstairs museum rooms and attic.

This tour is for entertainment purposes only, and the walk will be just over an hour and about 1 mile long.

Participation is limited to 12 people, reservations are first-come, first-served, $100 per person. Call 845-986-3236 to make a reservation.

An Evening at the Red Swan Inn @ Warwick Valley Country Club,
Apr 16 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

An Evening at the Red Swan Inn

Get your tickets before it sells out!

Step back in time at an Evening at the Red Swan Inn, a special event hosted by the Warwick Historical Society at the beautiful Warwick Valley Country Club, 42 Oakland Avenue, Warwick on Sunday, April 16, 5 to 8 pm.

Constructed in 1903, the Red Swan Inn was an elegant hotel and family resort in the charming Town of Warwick. Wealthy New Yorkers seeking a respite from the city heat would vacation at the resort, enjoying the modern amenities including fine dining, a swimming pool, and golf course.

For one special evening only, join the Warwick Historical Society at the Warwick Valley Country Club as we enjoy a menu artfully curated by Chef Clement Truitt, featuring delicacies enjoyed at the turn of the twentieth-century. An exhibit of collectible artifacts and items from the Red Swan Inn will be on display, music provided by Christopher Ford’s Party Mix, and Village of Warwick Mayor Michael Newhard will be the emcee for the evening, sharing some stories and legends from the inn.

Tickets are $105 per person for the entertaining evening, and on sale now with limited seating. Reservations are required and have already sold half of the tickets. Visit www.warwickhistory.org for more information. Call 845-986-3236 to make your reservation.
