Warwick. Veterans Memorial Park draft master plan meeting.
Everyone is invited to the Pavilion at Veterans Memorial Park in Warwick on Wednesday, May 31 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 4 at noon to view and discuss the draft master plan for the park. Village of Warwick Mayor Michael Newhard and Trustee Carly Foster will give an overview of the process and plan and the public will be able to add their feedback.
The village initiated the process in May of last year and has been meeting with a representative stakeholder advisory group to come up with future plans for the park which include beautification, recreation and maintaining its natural environment.
Ages 12 an above NO CHARGE The Chosun Taekwondo Academy is hosting monthly Zen Meditation classes at their location at 60 Galloway Road, Warwick, NY. These ongoing classes are an introduction to the practice, history and philosophy of Zen Buddhism. We’ll cover the basics of meditation posture, how to handle thoughts during meditation, basic breathing practices, and spend some time sitting in Zazen (Zen meditation), sharing some stories from the rich history of Zen, and a discussion of how this ancient practice is deeply relevant to our lives today.

Friends of Sterling Forest Monthly Meeting Sunday, July 2 at 12 p.m. – The Friends of Sterling Forest Executive Board will meet to discuss current and upcoming projects, activities and events. All F.S.F. members are welcome to attend.
- The Art of Coexistence, How You and I Can Save the World (Ilchi Lee with Steve Kim) Book Talk and Signing on July 2 at 1 p.m. – Humans are now facing multiple global problems. The key to solving these challenges is coexistence, which is based on the understanding that all life is interconnected. Hear co-author Steve Kim speak on how we can apply the qualities of conscience, empathy, and the ability to reflect to our lives for creating a world of harmony and coexistence. Steve Kim is a writer, educator, and life-long practitioner of mindfulness and sustainable living. - Augusta Mine Hike on July 23 beginning at 1 p.m. – Join Doc Bayne and the F.S.F. for an easy walk to the Augusta Mine, which provided ore to the Southfields Furnace in the mid 1800’s. Meet at the Caretaker’s Lot on Long Meadow Road for this two to three-hour walk through beautiful Sterling Forest. Wear footwear appropriate for hiking on uneven terrain and bring water and snacks. Walk will include stops along the way to interpret natural and historic features. As hunting is allowed in portions of Sterling Forest State Park, we suggest wearing hunter orange or bright colors other than white during the hunting season.
All events will meet at the Senator Frank R. Lautenberg Visitor Center, 116 Old Forge Road in Tuxedo Park.
The events are open to the public and free of charge, however, a $5 donation per person would be greatly appreciated. Advance registration is mandatory for all programs. Please call the park 845-351-5907 to register.

Raise a Glass to History at Tavern Night 2025 at Baird’s TavernWarwick, NY – The Warwick Historical Society, in partnership with Baird’s Tavern, invites the community to step back in time for an evening of history, camaraderie, and great food at Tavern Night 2025. This highly anticipated annual event will take place on Thursday, March 27, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Baird’s Tavern, one of Warwick’s most iconic and historic landmarks. Guests will enjoy a lively evening filled with specialty pub fare, beer or wine, and classic tavern games in the very space where George Washington once raised a glass and where Martha Washington spent the night. As a special highlight, docents will be on hand on the tavern’s second floor and attic, typically closed to the public, sharing captivating facts of the tavern’s incredible past, including its colonial visitors, Revolutionary War intrigue, and even chilling ghostly encounters. Warwick Rod & Gun Club will stock approximately 400 trout in the small lake that’s part of the Baird Farm on Baird Lane in Warwick, NY. This annual event awards a prize to each participant, regardless of whether or not s/he caught a fish, which include fishing rod and reel combos, tackle boxes, lures and other outdoor recreation items.
The event is supported by many area businesses and community organizations who donate funds and prizes for the day.
