Warwick Valley Central School district is pleased to announce a community partnership opportunity for local businesses. As an extension of the Video Production Career and Technology Education initiative at the high school, student production teams are seeking to create video content for area businesses. Their first meeting with businesses will be May 5th, the suggested donation for your video content is $350 for your which will be used to fund an annual CTE Scholarship at WVCSD. INITIAL CLIENT MEETING: The plan is for the Albert Wisner Community Library will host our first meeting on May 5th @ 12:30 PM in their downstairs community room. Your production team will meet with you to collect the information and ideas for your video.
LOCATION VISIT: Your production team will visit your location over the period of May 6 through May 12 to gain a better understanding of the visuals that are possible.

Niall and the Durty Nellies: While prominent in the Live Irish Music scene hard in the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan, it features Niall O’Hagan, hailing from Co. Tyrone, Ireland, Lead Singer and Guitarist; Conor McGuirk, from Queens, NYC, world renowned award winning keyboardist; Irelands own Bassist Tony Steele, percussionist Brian Tracey and the extremely talented and award winning Denny McCarthy on the Irish Fiddle!
The Ruffians: Formed in a downtown Irish pub in 1998 NYC by the brothers Griffin, the Ruffians are an original Celtic rock band that entwines the heart and soul of Celtic music with the exuberance of punk rock. WARWICK, N.Y. (NEWS10) – On Thursday, The Hudson Valley Flim Commission announces a casting call for an upcoming comedy feature film in the Hudson Valley. Filming will begin on June 6 through early June.
‘Theater Camp’ will be a feature film about a kids’ Theater Camp. The film producers are seeking all ethnicities, types, ages, and genders to play featured campers, stage kids, dancers, singers, and background roles. In addition to featured roles such as the Gossip. All roles will be paid.

Additional roles will be cast for parents, stage performers, students, and more. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Emish: Emish is an award winning, high-powered Americana folk-roots inspired trio with Celtic influences. For over a decade, these New York natives have thrived as a nationally touring band taking with them their versatile musical background, foot stomping energy, engaging performances and mastery of their instruments.
T McCann Band: T McCann is an eclectic group of gentleman musicians. They are known for their lively stage shows and their music reflects a fresh take on traditional Celtic music.
The Prodigals: The Prodigals is an American Irish punk band that started in 1997. Calling their genre of music “jig punk,” the Prodigals fall within a tradition epitomized by the Pogues and Black 47, merging traditional Celtic melodic roots with rock rhythms.
Barleyjuice: Barleyjuice is an American musical group from Philadelphia. Formed in 1998, the group began as a side project for musicians Keith Swanson and Kyf Brewer, who met as bagpipers in the Loch Rannoch Pipes & Drums. With eight albums and a double CD collection in their sporrans to date, these five spirited yanks have made themselves one of the most beloved Celtic rock bands in the US. They’ve been heard in popular television shows, films, and tons of Celtic radio programs worldwide.
Besides the headlining list of performances by these musicians, expect to see beer gardens, Irish dance troupes, whiskey tasting pavilion, pipe and drum performances, and special activities and amusements for kids. Several top Irish musicians, pipe and drum groups, Irish dance troupes and more than 150 craft and food vendors will be on hand during the debut of the Irish Festival in Greenwood Lake, Saturday and Sunday, May 28-29, 2022.
The Lineup
The lineup of extraordinary musicians scheduled to perform at the is breathtaking:
Jameson’s Revenge: The instrumentals that make up Jameson’s Revenge’s music break the mold of traditional Irish music, according to IrishCentral. That is by design, according to singer and vocalist John Walsh. “The way we were going about it was to create Irish music for the rest of us,” he explains. “We are not purists. It’s not like we don’t get along with everyone, but it’s just that we feel the traditional music players don’t like when you mess with the formula that is set in stone.”
Fiddle Frenzy: A performing group made up of Hudson Valley students in the Folk and Fiddling program, offers a holistic approach in teaching children to play fiddling by ear and love to perform Irish, Scottish, Old Time and Bluegrass tunes It incorporates ear training, singing, harmonies, improvisation, and arranging.
Niall and the Durty Nellies: While prominent in the Live Irish Music scene hard in the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan, it features Niall O’Hagan, hailing from Co. Tyrone, Ireland, Lead Singer and Guitarist; Conor McGuirk, from Queens, NYC, world renowned award winning keyboardist; Irelands own Bassist Tony Steele, percussionist Brian Tracey and the extremely talented and award winning Denny McCarthy on the Irish Fiddle!

You know it’s big news when I’m sending shameless plugs that aren’t on Saturday or Sunday.
But you got a sneak peek yesterday, when I let it slip that Elize would be at the festival, no?
Well, let’s make it official.
On Memorial Day weekend – actually the day BEFORE Memorial Day – we will be launching the first annual Savage Wonder Festival of veterans in the arts. We’re taking over Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center with poetry, music, visual art, dance – all by veterans. Many of the names will be familiar to Savage Wonder subscribers – Mason Rodrigue, The Savage Gentleman, Dex, Anthony Roberts, Amy Sexauer, Roman Baca and Exit 12 Dance Company, Doc Oliver – but they are only the start. Almost 40 exceptional warrior artists live on three stages from 12pm to 10pm. Think of it as Lollapalooza for veterans in the arts (or if not Lollapalooza…is there any other major arts festival that ever began in upstate New York…?).
But that’s not all.
All the proceeds will be split evenly between us and three other local veterans nonprofits – Clear Path 4 Veterans, Blue Star Families, and YIT Foundation. Just think – the more fun you have, the more you help veterans locally in the Hudson Valley.
Oh, and until April 1, tickets are absolutely FREE (Well, not all of them – we are offering a VERY small amount of VIP tickets in case you want guaranteed parking and premium seating and a swag bag. Or you can pay for a donation ticket – probably your best option if you want to support us but might not make it.)

Memorial Day weekend isn’t just about the start of summer. It is supposed to be our chance to remember those that have died for our freedoms. And there is no better way to commemorate the ones we’ve lost – the ones who have kept us safe and free – than to celebrate them artistically through the art, poetry, dance, music, and theater of their brothers and sisters in arms. With the proceeds going to local veterans nonprofits:Clear Path 4 Veterans, Blue Star Families, YIT Foundation, and the Veterans Repertory Theater, the Savage Wonder Festival is not only about the past – it is also about helping in the present!
Each participant at the Savage Wonder Festival is more than just an accomplished professional artist, each is also a military veteran. Their backstories – the tragedy, the struggle, the perseverance, and the triumph – lends each one’s art a powerful depth. A dance choreographer who was a Marine machine gunner in Fallujah, Iraq. A combat veteran and female engagement team member turned poet. An Iraq veteran handpicked by Placido Domingo to be one of his proteges. An Afghanistan veteran and survivor of a green-on-blue attackwhose debut outlaw country album was engineered and produced by the Grammy winning Station House in Los Angeles. These are not your typical world-class artists.
From the beer garden to the rock wall, from the food trucks to the service dog demonstrations, from the outdoor music to the two indoor stages, you’re not going to run out of fun. And whether you are seeing former USMC Combat Artist Elize McKelvey do live illustrations, going to the screening of former Green Beret Scott Mann’s filmed play Last Out before it releases on Amazon Prime, or watching the veterans of Frontline Arts demonstrate how to turn old military uniforms into the most mind-blowing paper you’ve ever seen, you’re going to discover a whole new way to celebrate Memorial Day, even if it’s on the day before!
Come and join us in celebrating the veterans that are gone, listening to the veterans that are still here, and supporting veterans in need.
