The Warwick Valley Chorale will kick off its 70th Anniversary year with our Fall 2010 Recruitment/Rehearsal schedule beginning on Tuesday, September 14th.  There are no auditions required – just a love of singing and music!  Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings at the Warwick Reformed Church, 16 Maple Ave, Warwick, NY 10990 from 7:30 to 9:30 PM.  ***Registration will be held from 7:00 – 7:30 PM on consecutive Tuesdays of Sept 14, Sept 21 and Sept 28 with normal rehearsals following.  Under the direction of Stanley Curtis and Accompanist, Gail Johnson, our repertoire will include “The Infant Jesus” Cantata by seventeenth century composer Dietrich Buxtehude and “Hodie” by contemporary composer John Leavitt.  The remainder of our repertoire will include seasonal favorites.    

Over the 2010 summer months Warwick Valley Chorale members participated in another excellent Carnegie Hall concert performance, as well as a performance for the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce’s Black Dirt Feast.  
 
The Chorale’s Fall 2010 season will also be a busy one.   We will be participating in the Warwick Apple Fest as a fundraiser for our organization, performing in a fundraiser concert for the Union AME Church in October, as well as singing throughout the Village of Warwick for Warwick’s Chamber of Commerce Home for the Holidays in November.  Our December schedule consists of caroling throughout the hamlet of Sugar Loaf; participating in a performance of Handels Messiah at West Point Chapel; and topping our season off with three holiday concerts on Friday, December 3, Friday, December 10, and Sunday, December 12, 2010.  Concert venues and times will be announced in local media and on our website and the Warwickinfo.net Concert Calendar.

Aug 26-29 | First annual Warwick Jazz Festival
will be in the late summer of 2010 in the village of Warwick NY. Find us listed amongst other jazz festivals on WBGO Jazz Radio site. This event, conceived and produced by local jazz musician Steve Rubin, in cooperation with venues presenting live music, the village of Warwick and local business will be an extension of a vibrant local jazz culture. Warwick and nearby area is home to many jazz musicians including, but not limited to; Mark Egan, Jeff Ciampa, Joe Vincent Tranchina, Gabriele Tranchina, Bob Rosen, Richard Kimball, Dave Smith, Mike Jackson, The New York Swing Exchange, Jon Werking, Dave Edwards, Andy Ezrin, John Arbo, Chris Persad, David Crone, Frank Vignola and James Emery. George Nitti, with Baby Grand Productions, featured many of the aformentioned artists in music series at Baby Grand Books. George continues to support the jazz community.

The Dautaj Restaurant on Oakland Ave continues to be a leader with their support of jazz by hiring local artists. Ray Townley on their behalf has helped shape interest in jazz, presenting weekly quality shows. The Dautaj has featured The NY Swing Exchange, 18 piece big band, Rick Savage group with Jon Werking and legendary drummer Eliot Zigmund, Mark Egan, Jeff Ciampa, The Skye Jazz Trio with Gabriele and Joe Tranchina, The Dave Smith Quartet, John Simon and many others. Coquito, has featured top artists such as Dave Valentin , Gabriele Tranchina, with Joe Vincent Tranchina and Bobby Sanabria, Jeff Ciampa and Mark Egan in concert. Coquito features jazz, salsa, dancing and special events. The Peach Grove Inn, The Grappa and the Village of Warwick are all regular participants in this developing scene. The Tuscan Cafe on South St. which features a variety of music will have a jazz electronica performance.

Visions Church and the Albert Wisner Library in cooperation with the village of Warwick will continue the tradition of presenting music by participating in the jazz festival. The purpose of this event is to pull together these working entities under one collective umbrella, The Warwick Valley Jazz Festival. In addition to its direct effect on artists by hiring them, it synthesizes the tourism, local business and community interests. The success of the festival can have a broad positive effect on the community by heightening awareness of this great American musical art form and celebrating Warwick's diverse and beautiful environment as an attractive destination in NY State.

Aug 29 | Greenwood Lake Gaelic Cultural Society to Host Irish Night at the Beach | 7:30PM
The luring sound of bagpipes will linger over the Lake and a talented group of musicians and dancers will be on hand to perform at the first annual Irish Night at the Beach sponsored by the Greenwood Lake Gaelic Society, at Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park (at the end of Windermere Avenue) in the heart of Greenwood Lake.  

Part of the Village’s Summer Concert Series, Irish Night at the Beach will feature a wide variety of music and entertainment from members of the NYPD’s Emerald Society Pipe Band, vocalist Maire McVicker, Billy Keenan and the Prime Time Show Band, and dancers from the Sheahan-Gormley School of Dance. Admission is free. Irish soda bread and soft drinks will be available for sale.
