5th Annual Artifact Hunt!
Date: Thursday 7/20/17 Time: 6 PM ‘til dusk
Every year, this highly anticipated artifact hunt draws 100 + people, excitedly scouring this freshly plowed black dirt field for the chance at finding a little bit of history!
This is a free, family-friendly event! (FREEmeans no charge). You do not need any specific tools; artifacts can be found right on top of the dirt! And, you are welcome to take home your found artifacts!

Event will be held at Bob Sodrick’s farm (private land /permission to dig on this night only**) on Van Sickle Hill.

Leave Pine Island on Pulaski Highway heading North.
Eventually, on the left, you will see Van Sickle Lane.
Turn left turn on Van Sickle; go about 100 yards, and turn left on a dirt lane. Go about a quarter of a mile and you will be there.

Hi, I’m Michael and I am interested in fossil hunting. I have some relatives near the black dirt area who own woods with a ravine and I found some fossils of shells in Florida (The town not state). I heard that Pleistocene Epoch fauna was in the area and I’m interested in looking there. Do you know of any places there I can fossil hunt on Pine Island or near the Wallkill River?
